Rehabilitation Care

Rehabilitation or rehab therapy refers to the therapeutic healing treatment a patient receives after an illness or injury. The illness or injury could be cancer, a stroke, or an automobile or skiing accident.

Rehabilitation therapy can be used to treat a wide range of injuries or conditions. Some common conditions treated include orthopedic and musculoskeletal injuries such as sprains/strains/tears or post-surgical rehabilitation, neurological injuries such as stroke, brain injury, or spinal cord injury.

There are many types of rehabilitation therapies, each designed to address specific ranges of issues. The common goal is to help individuals recover from illness, injury, surgery, stroke, cardiac events, or other medical issues and to regain functional abilities and independence lost to these events.

Different types of rehabilitation therapies are used in treatment plans. Some of them are Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Cognitive Rehabilitation, and Vocational Rehabilitation. Each type of rehabilitation therapy can be accessed in various healthcare settings.

Each rehabilitation program is tailored to the individual patient's needs and can include one or more types of therapy. Counselling is a process continued throughout the recovery period to maintain the mental health of the patient.

At Oxymed Hospitals the entire focus is on rehab therapy to aid an individual in recovery. It is the safest and most efficient means of treatment.

In Oxymed, Rehab therapy is applied for patients who need such services, and depending on the intensity of medical/rehabilitative treatment required, Oxymed either recommends in-patient or out-patient care.

No doubt, Rehab Therapy is a slow process but quitting it will not speed it up anyway!

Rehabilitation is defined as “a set of interventions designed to optimize functioning and reduce disability in individuals with health conditions in interaction with their environment”.
